Your 10-second YouTube and article digest
Stop skimming articles and sitting through long videos. Sumbox turns any YouTube video or web article into clear, actionable takeaways — right inside Chrome.
Real-time AI cues for every interview question.
Key features
Instant AI summaries, multilingual support, and clickable timestamps — all delivered in Chrome's side panel without interrupting your browsing.
Instant video summaries
Sumbox uses parallel processing to summarize even hour-long YouTube videos in 8–10 seconds. The transcript is split into chunks and processed simultaneously, delivering a TL;DR, full summary, and formatted script all at once.
Clickable timestamps
Video transcripts include timestamps formatted as [MM:SS] that link directly to the corresponding moment in the video. Clicking a timestamp seeks the YouTube player to that exact time — ideal for quickly referencing specific parts of a long video.
Dark mode
A full dark theme transforms the entire interface while maintaining readability. Your preference is saved automatically and persists across sessions so you never have to set it twice.
Works on paywalled articles
Sumbox also summarizes paywalled articles via experimental client-side DOM extraction.
Web article summaries
Sumbox works on any web article, blog post, or news page. It uses Apify to scrape and clean page content, stripping ads and navigation, then delivers a TL;DR and full summary through Google Gemini.
14 languages supported
Get summaries in your preferred language regardless of the source content. Sumbox supports 14 languages including English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Polish, Dutch, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, and Hindi.

Revisit any past summary at any time without re-processing the content. Your summaries are saved locally and always available — perfect for picking up where you left off.
Chrome side panel
Sumbox lives in Chrome's side panel — always accessible alongside your content without covering the page you're viewing. Open it with a single click and get summaries without interrupting your browsing.
Export & share

FAQ
Here are some of the frequently asked questions. Still need help? Email contact@sumbox.app and we'll get back to you within 24 hours (usually much faster).
What types of content can Sumbox summarize?
Sumbox works with YouTube videos that have captions (auto-generated or manual) and web articles from news sites, blogs, and publications. Just navigate to any supported page, click the Sumbox icon, and hit Summarize.
What languages does Sumbox support?
Sumbox supports 14 languages, including English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Arabic, Polish, Dutch, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Hindi. You can choose your preferred output language in Settings, and Sumbox will summarize in that language regardless of the original content's language.
Can I export my summaries?
Yes. Sumbox supports export in Markdown, HTML, Rich Text, Plain Text, and JSON — so you can easily send summaries to note-taking apps like Obsidian or Notion, word processors, or your own data pipelines.
Why can't Sumbox summarize a particular video?
Sumbox relies on video transcripts to generate summaries. If a YouTube video doesn't have captions — either auto-generated or manually added — it can't be summarized. Make sure the video has captions enabled and that the page has fully loaded before clicking Summarize.
How fast are the summaries?
Thanks to parallel processing, Sumbox delivers results in about 8–10 seconds — even for hour-long videos. That's roughly 5x faster than traditional sequential methods.
What do I get in a summary?
For YouTube videos, you get three sections: a TL;DR with bullet-point takeaways, a comprehensive narrative summary, and a formatted script with clickable timestamps. For articles, you get the TL;DR and narrative summary.
Does Sumbox collect my browsing data?
No. Sumbox only processes the pages you explicitly choose to summarize. Your preferences are stored locally in Chrome, and all data transmission is encrypted.
How do I get started?
Search for "Sumbox" in the Chrome Web Store, click "Add to Chrome," and pin it to your toolbar. Then navigate to any YouTube video or article, open the side panel, and hit Summarize.
